While scrolling down instagram, the following post jumped out: “It’s March and I’m Still Fat!“. V funny – how easily the year gains momentum and my news years resolutions have yet to produce results.
Now that we have more sunshine in our days and summer will soon be upon us, it is certainly time to start eating better and feeling good – and hopefully look good too!
To help us along our way, we have turned to Ella Woodward and her new cookbook, Deliciously Ella. If you have not heard of her she is a young British natural food cook. Her back story is inspiring – at a young age she was diagnosed with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome – a rather rare illness that attacks the nervous system. It left her debilitated. After some research she tried a gluten-free vegan diet, removing processed foods from her life. This new approach of eating was life changing for her and she started sharing her story and recipes with the world (and we are glad she has!).
Her approach is captured well in the inside front cover of her book, it says:
Deliciously Ella is not about being hungry or deprived. It’s about counting goodness not calories. It’s about nourishing your body with real, whole foods so that you are consistently happy and energised, and can live life to the fullest. After all isn’t that what life is all about?
Now, a ‘gluten-free vegan’ diet just sounds scary. But flicking through her recipes they all seem appetising and achievable. So we are going to give them a go and let you know how we get on. We won’t be doing a full on Julie & Julia blog on her recipes, but we will report back on how we get on with her popular dishes.
